Roadrace Toploader Transmission
This is the transmission you need for serious high-performance competition. It is specially built for vintage Mustang endurance road racing, to assure smooth positive shifting both up and down at 7500 plus RPMs . This transmission will work equally well for drag race purposes or high-performance streetcars.
This transmission is new/never used since the complete rebuild. This was my backup transmission for my vintage Shelby roadrace car. I have been using the identical race prepped transmission for three seasons, it has worked flawlessly, therefore I no longer feel the need for a backup transmission.
The professional rebuild included many new parts; new input shaft, new counter shaft, new maximum load front and rear bearings, new needle bearings, new thrust washers, new tail bushing, all new seals and gaskets, new "bronze" synchros (not the common brass type), plus all gears and shift dogs were prepped for high RPM roadrace use.
This is a close ratio, 2.32 1st, 1.69 2nd, 1.29 3rd, 1.00 4th . It fits Mustangs and others with Small-Block engines, with the standard 1 1/6" 10 spline input shaft and the standard short 28 spline output shaft. The tail housing is drilled for both Mustang and Fairlane locations for shift linkage.
